Why does the UK government not like Huawei?
Huawei already runs a large proportion of the UK's market, meaning more and more people are using them and relying on their services & products.
Why is this bad?
The company have a reputation for using a low-level of cyber security and engineering quality. Which in turn, makes their customers less secure.
Some cellular providers rely on Huawei products and services also. So if the company was to withdraw from the UK (for example) then these providers would find themselves in a tight spot!
Is Huawei spying on people?
All providers harvest your data to an extent. Huawei is no different. However, the concern lies with it being a Chinese company while relations aren't ideal between countries.
Although the Chinese Government do not own Huawei, the National Intelligence Law of 2017 authorizes them to gather information through Huawei's services worldwide.
Is Huawei worth it?
All said and done, Huawei still offers a good service at an affordable price. Just be aware of the risk factors.
